Unable to copy File Cabinet Structure from one install to another.
The reason for an end user to purchase DW from a reseller is to leverage the knowledge, experience & resources of said reseller. A major portion of those resources include knowing the best practices learned from other customer’s installations. When we as a reseller, develop those processes within a given market segment, it behooves us to share that knowledge with other customers with the same needs.

In general the import of a file cabinet structure works also in between different versions. However, sometimes there are bigger changes, that make this process much more complex. In these rare cases we do not see any other chance than to be only import from a similar version. -
Automatically adding fields to ALL dialogs

Forcibly, by the way. I have customers that have 15+ dialogs, lists, etc - and every time I add a field, I have to remove this new field from every single dialog my new field doesn't pertain to.
Can we please bring back the functionality of choosing which dialogs a new field should belong to? Thank you9 votesThank you for your contribution.
Your idea is available with version 7.
New fields are only added to the standard dialogs. All the custom dialogs will not display the new field. -
Es fehlt ein flexibler Feldtyp für mehr als einen Indexwert (Mehrfachauswahl)
Für Mehrfachauswahl von Werten habe ich keine Lösung gefunden.
Ich möchte zB. im Feld "Rechte" mehrere Unternehmensbereiche selektieren die dann Zugriffsrechte auf das Dokument haben.Der Feldtyp sollte einfach zu bedienen sein, dh. in einer kurzen Liste sollte man Häkchen setzen können, oder in einer Langen liste einfach Indexwerte in eine Box hinzufügen können
Ich habe einen solchen Typ bisher sehr vermisst, als Beispiel gebe ich frech SharePoint an, siehe anbei ein Screenshot der Managed Metadata Auswahl

Anzeig von Systemfeldern auch in der Suche und dem Ergebnis
Für Administratoren wäre es sinnvoll, wenn die Suche nach der DocID möglich wäre, ohne die Systemdaten zusätzlich in ein eigenes Feld zu schreiben.
Auch die vorhandenen Werte für den Dateityp und der Größe sind hilfreich.
Bisher habe ich die Felder angelegt und durch AutoIndex oder Trigger gefüllt, aber vorhandene Indexwerte zu duplizieren ist nicht wirklich schön.7 votesVielen Dank für Ihren Beitrag. Ihre Idee ist mit der Version 7.4 verfügbar.

In 6.12, when you create a new field, il is automatically add in every dialog box.

Sub-Table Column
Add a Table-Field where you could fill in accounting relevant data eg. a costcentre column, amount column etc.
This field should work like the keyword column only with more (definable) subcolumns.

Allow the DocID field to be a selectable field in file cabinets
Currently have to use a workflow to grab the docids and add them to a user created field called Document ID.

AutoIndex Jobs: Modify Scheduling on Event so that it can be based on Documents Stored in A File Cabinet
You can currently schedule AutoIndex Workflows using either a time/date or on Event. On Event though only references the external file modifications. It would be nice if you could modify the Event to be based on changes to the DocuWare File Cabinet ( i.e. New Documents/Edited Indexes/etc)
I had a customer run into a situation where this would be more manageable if this option existed.

Die Länge von Textfeldern erhöhen
255 Zeichen reichen oft nicht aus, um z.B. den Inhalt von Akten zu beschreiben. Besser wären mind. 1000 Zeichen.
Alternativ kann man ja ein Bemerkungsfeld nutzen, aber da ist nur eins pro Archiv erlaubt.3 votesDies ist eine Neuerung der Version 6.9.

Simplify access to file cabinet data on docuware cloud
On DW Cloud, Right now if you need access to the dwstorage user or storage date time, you need make a request cabinet transform the sqllite database and convert to excel the file cabinet data, all of this to make a simple report for example too see the document production of the past thursday, if you need to make this every day is really hard to do it, maybe make access to read data (add-on) with excel will be great just for read file cabinets data
2 votesThank you for your contribution. You can export file cabinet data right from the result list. On each result list there is a three dots icon in the upper right corner. Click there and choose “Export to CSV file …”. This file can then be openend in Excel.

Labels for result list in version 6.5
In previous versions of DocuWare result list configuration in the administration it was possible to edit the labels of the Result List fields. With 6.5 result list will show the default label for this field and this cannot be edited anymore. This means that you can edit labels for search and store dialogs but you cannot edit these for result list anymore.

Ablagedialog mit abhängigen Indexfeldern
Es wäre gut, wenn man z.B. in einem Indexfeld einen bestimmten Wert einträgt bzw. auswählt, dass dann bestimmte Auswahlmöglichkeiten im nächsten Indexfeld angeboten werden. Das würde den Ablageprozess deutlich vereinfachen und durch Standard Vorgaben weniger Fehler bzw. falsche eingaben

Über entsprechende Auswahllistenkonfiguration ist die bereits möglich.
Zunächst benötigen Sie eine Auswahlliste, die mehrere Spalten enthält. Danach weisen Sie im Ablagedialog den entsprechenden Feldern eine Spalte der Auswahlliste zu und definiren einen Filter.

MISSING Predefined field entry for lists and folders
I suppose it is a bug, but the ability to predefine an entry fo a field is missing in the LIST & FOLDER Index dialogs.
This is giving us many problems, as users import files directly to folders (both via web and explorer client).1 voteThank you for your contribution.
Your idea is already available.In every folder, you can define which store dialog should be used, and store dialogs have the functionality for predefined fields.

Outline modifications that were made to Index Entries
There is no way tell what changes were made when an Index Entry has been edited (e.g. If someone modifies an Index Entry, the system only lets you know who modified entry, but it doesn't outline modifications that were made.)

Substitute the message "No se ha encontrado ninguna entrada" for "No se ha encontrado ninguna entrada que empiece por ese término""
In the Spanish version, when searching for documents in any indexed field a message pops out under the searching line saying "No se ha encontrado ninguna entrada". That message is incorrect, it should say "No se ha encontrado ninguna entrada que empiece por ese término" which is what it is really happenning.
I makes people think that there will be no results if they look for that word and they get upset, but they are mistaken / mislead.1 voteThank you for your contribution.

Create a separate database for Heavy Tray Use and General User Trays and File cabinets.
When building a busy Docuware system the users who add large nubers of documents to the system can cause deadlock on the database the tray is attached to. Separating the Trays to their own DB reduces the opportunity for this problem. Also, if a large system where a number of workflows are running, placing groups of related file cabinets in their own DB instead of the DWDATA DB can speed up access and reduce the issues with timing of the DB. In short in a larger system MORE Databases=Reliability

Docuware should be able to keep track of all documents deleted from the file cabinet and by whom
Documents deleted in the file cabinet should be archived in a repository
1 voteThis idea can be easily setup by an administrator. The procedure is the following:
1. Remove delete rights for all users exept the administrator
2. Add a stamp which sets the status field to e.g. “deleted”
3. Add a profile with index filter hiding documents with the status “deleted”The document is then never deleted, but unvisible for normal users. The stamp will contain username, date and time.
If you want to remove the document from the file cabinet, you could additionally do the following:
4. Create another file cabinet with the same structure
5. Use the Export-Workflow to move the document from the source file cabinet to the new file cabinet. -
Stichwort länger als 20 Zeichen
Die Beschränkung des Stichwortfeldes auf 20 Zeichen sollte entfallen. Da dies in einer eigenen Tabelle gespeichert wird gibt es dafür auch keinen Grund mehr. Die Kompatibilität mit dem alten Windows Client ist nun auch nicht mehr erforderlich

We need the ability to once again export File Cabinet settings into an XML file and then use it as a basis for creating new File Cabinets.
We always been able to use an XML file from an older version of DocuWare to create cabinets in newer versions.
We have clients with over 50 file cabinets, who need to move only a portion of their departments over at a time. So we can't do an in place upgrade, but need to migrate a File Cabinet at a time. By having to create each cabinet over again from scratch greatly increases the down time for our clients, but also opens the door for errors to be made.
